Day 28

Call to Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the Kingdom and the power and glory forever. Amen.

from Matthew 6:9-13

Silence

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the LORD!
For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Read Acts 10:34-43

Prayer of Response

Gracious God. We confess that too often we resign certain people to condemnation, outside the realm of your power to save them. We show partiality when you do not. But, we are reminded that when we were dead in our sin, you saved us. Can you not do the same for even one who is against you and your people? Help us to pray in this way. Help us to bear witness today to the reality of Christ’s redemption. Amen.

Prayers of Supplication

For greater generosity in our life and church
For a spirit of hospitality for those unlike us
To welcome and serve our physical neighbors
That our generosity would lead to more being saved
