Looking for a quick resource for helping Lexington’s homeless population?
Lighthouse Ministries
Mission: The Lighthouse Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to reaching the homeless and low and moderate income population of Lexington and the Fayette County area, by providing free meals and supplies for our neighbors in need.
Opportunity: They need help sorting donations, cleaning the building, or serving lunch (starts at noon everyday) on a weekly basis.

Amachi
Mission: Amachi Central Kentucky, an initiative of the Lexington Leadership Foundation, is a one-on-one mentoring program for children and teens impacted by incarceration and substance abuse. Mentoring one of our "children of promise" is an amazing way to impact the Kingdom here in Lexington, and you can help!
Opportunity: Mentors spend an hour per week for at least one year with their mentees doing a variety of positive activities (eating together, watching movies, going to the park, helping with homework, etc), and make a HUGE impact in the lives of their young friends. Amachi currently has over 40 young people waiting for an adult to mentor them.

Common Good
Mission: Common Good Community Development Corporation is a faith-based, non-profit that focuses on programming for children, youth and families living in under-resourced neighborhoods North Lexington. Common Good exists to advance holistic community development in North Lexington through leadership, education, recreation, and spiritual formation.
Opportunity: The Common Good After-School Program serves students in grades K-5 from 2:30-6:00 pm, Monday-Thursday throughout the school year. Grades 6-12 goes from 4:00-6:00pm. The program is in need of 60 mentors to commit to volunteering one day a week for the Fall semester. There are several components to the program: homework help, enrichment activities, recreation, free time and a meal is shared. Each class/group is led by a staff person and the mentor serves as an assistant to the staff person. Mentors can request an age range they most want to serve with.
