Day 13
Call to Prayer
Generous God, who became poor so that we would become rich, give us a gracious posture in all things before us today. In our hurry, slow us down that we would see as you see. In our self-protection, give us a love rooted in sacrifice. Help us to listen and to walk by your Spirit. In Christ’s name, amen.
Silence
Psalm 51:10-17
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will return to you.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
O God of my salvation,
and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Prayer of Response
Lord, let us not give out of guilt or compulsion but prayerfully and intently seek your face. Let us not resist what you have placed upon our hearts and give joyfully. Help us in our tendency toward self-sufficiency. In your kindness lead us to a repentance that bears the fruit of open-handed generosity. In Christ’s name, amen.
Prayers of Supplication
