Call to Prayer

Generous God, who became poor so that we would become rich, give us a gracious posture in all things today. In our hurry, slow us down that we would see as you see. Help us to listen and to walk by your Spirit. In Christ’s name, amen.

Gracious is the LORD, and righteous;
our God is merciful.

Prayer of Response

God, give us a greater capacity for hospitality and generosity. Save us from the confines of our entitlement and increase our heart for the poor and vulnerable. Loosen our grip on our money and possessions. Remind us of the joy we experience when we give abundantly. Open our homes to the lonely. Make our church like the one we just read about. Help us, O God. Amen.

Prayers of Supplication

For greater generosity in our life and church.
For a spirit of hospitality for those unlike us.
To welcome and serve our physical neighbors.
That our generosity would lead to more being saved.
