Song of Rejoicing: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
By Catherine Winkworth & Joachim Neander
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, Now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, Yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen, How all thy longings have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, Come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people again,
Gladly forever adore Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people again,
Gladly forever adore Him.
Song of Rejoicing: Everlasting God
By William Murphy; Copyright © 2014 Fairtrade Tunes / Fellowship Church
The Lord is my light and salvation
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?
The Lord is my light and salvation
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?
I will wait on You, I will wait on You
I will trust in You, I will trust in You
[Repeat]
I will remain confident in this
I will see the goodness of the Lord
I will remain confident in this
I will see the goodness of the Lord
We set our hope on You, we set our hope on Your love
We set our hope on the one, who is the everlasting God
You are the everlasting God (repeat)
I will remain confident in this
I will see the goodness of the Lord
I will remain confident in this
I will see the goodness of the Lord
Welcome and Announcements
Sacrament of Holy Baptism:
4:00 Service - Carson Tighe
TO THE PARENTS
1. Do you acknowledge Carson’s need of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ and the renewing grace of the Holy Spirit?
2. Do you claim God’s covenant promises on her behalf, and do you look in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ for her salvation as you do your own?
3. Do you now unreservedly dedicate her to God and promise in humble reliance upon divine grace that you will endeavor to set before her a godly example, that you will pray with her, that you will teach her the doctrines of our holy faith and that you will strive, by all the means of God’s appointment to bring her up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord?
TO THE CONGREGATION:
Do you as members of Hope Presbyterian Church undertake the responsibility of assisting Dylan and Emily in the Christian nurture of Carson?
Declaration to Our Covenant Children from Church of Scotland
UNISON:
For you Jesus Christ came into the world.
For you He lived and showed God’s love.
For you He suffered the darkness of Calvary.
For you He triumphed over death and rose to new life.
For you He reigns at God’s right hand.
All this He did for you, Carson, though you do not know it yet.

Old Testament Reading: Jeremiah 1:4–10
[4] Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
[5] “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
[6] Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” [7] But the LORD said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
[8] Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
declares the LORD.”
[9] Then the LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me,
“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
[10] See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

The Word of the Lord (by Rachel Wilhelm & Justin Carlson ©2021)
All men are like grass,
Their glory like flowers of the field.
The grass withers, the flowers fall,
but the Word, the Word of the Lord stands forever.
His Word stands forever.
Confession of Sin:
Gracious God, we remember the humility of Jesus, who humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. As we contemplate the sufferings of Christ, we are convicted of our pride and our resistance to a posture of humility.
We confess that we think of ourselves too highly, forfeiting the richness found in sympathy and service, in ministering to the needy, and in submission to your authority.
We have not loved as you have loved us.
We have not served as you serve us.
O Lord, yours is an abundance of grace!
Lord, put to death our pride and clothe us in humility that we would always pursue peace and purity.
Restore to us a desire to listen, to trust, and to serve.
Restore to us the joy and freedom of Your salvation. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon (Based on Romans 8:1; 2 Corinthians 5:17)
Hear the good news! There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; Know that in Jesus, God embraces you, forgives you, and strengthens you to live a renewed life.
RESPOND
Offering: Land of the Living
By Justin Carlson ©2015
I believe I will see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living
I believe I will know the safety of a covenant of love
Wait, wait for the Lord
Be strong, let your heart be strong
Take courage and wait for the Lord
I believe that I will see His goodness
In the land of the living
Reading of Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:11–16
[11] Command and teach these things. [12] Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. [13] Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. [14] Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. [15] Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. [16] Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Communion
WORDS OF INSTITUTION
Let us together proclaim the hope of the Church:
Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ shall come again!
I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper, he took the cup saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Hymn of Response: Jesus! What A Friend For Sinners!
Author: J. Wilbur Chapman; Composer: Rowland Hugh Pritchard
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.
Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in him;
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my victory wins.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah, What a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o'er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.
Jesus! I do now receive him,
More than all in him I find;
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am his, and he is mine.
