Day 40

Call to Prayer

God, in your kindness and patience, draw me close. Teach me to pray. Help me to listen. I come boldly in the name of Jesus, amen.

Silence

Psalm 56:1–4

Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?

Read Acts 18

Prayer of Response

God, I confess my fear of man — his words and his opinion. As I go into the world today, let me hear you say, “Do not be afraid.” Let me know your affection for me. When I don’t know what to say, give me the words. Put people in my path that do not know Jesus, who are even resistant to him! Give me patience and dependence as I befriend and engage with them. Be gracious to me, O God. Amen.

Prayers of Supplication

For the neighbors on my street.
For opportunities to share the gospel with people.
