Day 19

Call to Prayer

Father,
I don’t know what to say. Give me the words.
I am distracted by worry. Give me rest.
I feel like a failure. Give me Jesus.
He is sufficient, and even now,
Is seated with you, interceding on my behalf.
Give me ears to hear. Amen.

Silence

Psalm 36:5–12

Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O LORD.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright of heart!
Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the evildoers lie fallen;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.

Read Acts 7:54-60

Prayer of Response

Lord, it is hard for me not to be overwhelmed by the voices that cry out against me for what I believe. I want to hide. I want to stay silent. But, you are with me. Even in suffering, you are with me. Give me a confidence like Stephen’s, whose eyes were set on you but whose heart felt compassion for those who killed him. Help me. In Christ’s name, amen.

Prayers of Supplication

For the persecuted church around the world
For us to be a faithful witness
For the lost in our families and our communities
