Day 6

Call to Prayer

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.

from the Book of Common Prayer

Silence

Psalm 16:7-11

I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I have set the LORD always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.
For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
or let your holy one see corruption.
You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Read Acts 2:22-41

Prayer of Response

God, help us to place our confidence in Christ. When we want to despair, help us to rejoice. When we want to run from you, lead us to repentance. When we want to hide, establish our feet on the Lordship of Christ. Restore to us the certainty of Christ, crucified, raised, and seated with you in heaven. Amen.

Prayers of Supplication

For a spirit of repentance in our church
For new believers at TCPC downtown
For friends and family members to believe the gospel and submit to Jesus
